About Us
As a high-end contemporary womenswear designer, Iona Crawford`s work places strong emphasis on Scottish fabrics such as Cashmere, Leather and Extra Fine Merino. The sensitivity of masculinity, the way in which menswear gathers a certain delicacy when worn by a woman, provide great inspiration and stimulation for her work. Play with garment structure and silhouette has contributed to the dynamics of her recent design practice. Iona`s versatility as a designer enables her tackle many areas of womenswear design, from tailoring to more avante-guard undertakings. Iona aims to challenge traditional outlook on Scottish fabric, designing unique, contemporary garments. Collections designed by a woman, with women in mind. Garments designed to be worn with an independent attitude. By combining rich luxurious Scottish fabrics such as cashmere with intriguing materials such as laser-cut leather, handknitted pieces and handmade ceramic buttons, she modernises the way in which Scottish fabrics are traditionally recognised. It is this unique and innovative approach which gives her label its niche. As a Scottish Designer trained-in and inspired-by Scotland, Iona has chosen to base her design practice here, sourcing the finest Scottish fabric. Since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art with a First Class Honours in fashion design, she has built and continues to build strong relationships with various Scottish mills, and continues to nurture a prestigious collaboration with Johnstons of Elgin.
