MAKE-DO it HAPTIC

MAKE-DO it HAPTIC

23 September 2008, 7.30 - 8.45pm. Registration from 7pm
Vitra Conference Suite, The Lighthouse

Haptic is an exhibition currently running at The Lighthouse that focuses on re-awakening the senses. It is the product of what happens when you ask 21 international architects and designers to create objects that focus on the sense of touch, instead of colour and form.

To celebrate the close of this exhibition we will host an event with international architect, Masayo Ave, on the exhibition and her pieces. In the lecture "MAKE-DO it HAPTIC", Prof. Masayo Ave will present a series of her "HAPTIC" design works and the latest research projects realised in the institute of "HAPTIC INTERFACE DESIGN".

The evening will also showcase traditional Japanese design in the form of kimonos. This aims to highlight the two distinct disciplines that exist in design and how each has influenced the other. There will be the opportunity to try on and buy Kimono dressing gowns and view some contemporary and traditional textiles.

This event is supported by Japan-UK 150

The exhibition has been supported by The great British Sasakawa Foundation, DAIWA Anglo-Japanese Foundation and The Japan Foundation.
